Following is copied from Greg Siskind's Blog, and it makes me wonder if it means that those who who filed I-140 by mail can submit I-485 with the I-140 receipt number only that can be obtained from the cleared check?

To be frank there was momemtum and energy missing in DC and other states before the rally! I think there are many ignorant, many not willing and many not up to giving a day!
Have we tried to educate them about their situation today ..
IF many of us have been able to file I485 in JULY then its 'coz of IV and ONLY IV!!
If we stress on IV's acheivements .. eg. flower campaign & San jose Rally and outcome of these..Reversal of Visa Bulletin then I think people will try to understand..
Tell you what people with PD in the last 2 yrs have not shown up in big numbers! Only with PD as late as 2001,02,03,04,05 have been able to evaluate the seriuosness of the whole GC thing & able to visualise the waiting frustrations!! Lets bring in more of the recent yrs PD people so that they know HOW LUCKY they are Just 'coz of IV!!

You are right but unfortunately history has thought us that when it comes down to GC versus H1b everybody is willing to throw GC under the bus to get H1b provisions.
This current bill is no exception, h1 increased from 65,000 to 115000 with triggers to increse it to 185000, but no provisions for green cards.
a exclusive emendment with GC will be the only way out. nobody is offering such amendment and if somebody offers it might be ordered to lie on table.
I think industry and their senators alike will be happy with quota increases...waht they will try to strike out is the extra fees....($5000 now) and also the retrictions on recruitment / displacement policy, which will make H1B useless as it will take umpteen number of months to get an H1B approved.
This ammdt is still difficult to pass
BTW, I cannot find the text of this ammndt on Thomas.

If we get this thru do we still need CIR? Also I guess this looks more better with the limit introduced by an amendment (don't rememeber who it was) to limit the numbers doesn't come into play

Those who had real genuine reasons will attend next time. Those feeling guilty of not attending, contribute 100, 200 whatever....[ I'm not at all pushy here, just requesting] that'll help IV more than posting your reasons. IV core are not "Agony Uncles" or "Agony Aunts" to counsel us on our personal problems or guilt issues!
Don't get me wrong, I sympathize with those who had backpain, who were forced by the bosses etc. There is NOTHING IV CAN DO ABOUT IT (real genuine reasons). For those complaining about money, there was a thread on IV to sponsor tickets, provide accomodations etc. Why didn't you use those?
So whoever posts their "Confession" next, please sweeten it by showing you've done your penance - by posting details of your latest contribution to IV, done to atone your absence. That way, it will it help you get over your guilt (if you really have it), and also shutup those who question your genuineness.

Apart from Deniel notice I also got LUD on I 140.
Could it be related to old employer revoking I 140?
Since I have transfered after 180 and did Ac 21 - am I covered.

PD is not lost if you crossed I-140 stage (got an approval) on the older application.

There is no suprise on it. There may be 3 reasons for that
1. It is deviating from grand bargain. Some republicans accepted CIR based on the condition that point system needs to be introduced. Cantwell amendment invalidates that in high skilled category
2. Anything unlimited is tough to convince Senators as immigration concept is based on shortage of workers. Cantwell amendment has many exemptions for H1b and GC
3. This has provisions which will make Durbin bill almost ineffective
If some compromise is suggested in those three points then there is some possiblity. Otherwise it is going to be tough
The word on the street is that the Cantwell amendment is not a part of the list of amendments that are currently floating around in Senate offices. There are 20 of them.
Even Bernie Sanders has one more coming (Yes, it is related to H1B). But Cantwell amendment is not there in the list of 20.

We should attend. It matters a lot.. Even uneducated farmers fight for their right. Why should we not show some solidarity and let the nation hear our voice?
