Hi All,
I applied for my daughter's PIO card and sent all the documents as mentioned in the instructions sheet of the embassy website along with the self addressed stamped envelope. I heard from my other friends that even after you send everything in order, the embassy people would call and say that they did not receive the self addressed stamped envelop. It happened to three of my friends. I am the 4th one. They called today to tell that I did not send the envelope.
The funny part that happened with my friends is that, they all sent $20 and the package came in the very envelope they sent in the first place, that the embassy said they didn't receive.
Did anybody of you also had the same kind of experience or similar incident. If so, please do share.
Why are they doing like that? Do they really think we would do like that, trying to save on an self addressed envelope? It really bothered me for the fact that the lady from the consulate was utterly rude when talking. I am amazed how in the world, The Indian Government is still hiring such people? Of more then a billion population, is that the best person the government of India could find for that customer service post? Its a shame and I am ashamed that such dic*heads working and representing India?
Coming back to the issue...she said sternly, send $20.00 or send envelope stamped otherwise the application would not be processed.
Folks, please let me know where I can complain about this careless attitude of this monster woman. What steps can I take to make sure they don't do that again? I live in TN and I can't fly/drive to Washington DC. The questions is not about the money, but the way they are operating without any ethics is deplorable.

Well, I don't know where you got the 6/7 years from. But the way I understand it, 7% per country does NOT mean that any one country is guranteed 7% of the visas. It simply means that no one country will get MORE THAN 7% of visas. So yes, even if your country was issued a very few visas in that fiscal year if the rest of ROW applicants used up all the numbers, you may have to wait for a while depending on your PD.
So if what you are saying is true, then form example, country "A" has only one applicant. Since ROW collectively used all the visa,country "A" has to wait 6/7 years to get visa number?

No its I-485 I just cut and pasted the two emails I received, first at 10am then the second at 3 pm check online and the system had same messages. If its true I am having a party wow man thanks I did come to US in 1997. I do have a labor which was approved under RIR PD date 2004 but the employer refused to file I-140. Then again filed PERM in 2007 under EB2 and filed I-140/I-485 based on this PERM

My wife and me are coming all the way from Seattle. We are so proud to be part of the Rally. After being a victim of back log center, retrogression, filing 485 was a relief. However there are long ways to go, we think about the the people who are just filing the labor, people who are still stuck in backlog centers, and probably our 485 application who knows may be stuck in name check, the whole GC process is flawed. I have been a member a long time, now I get to meet all of you! I appreciate each of you guys who volunteer and spend selfless hours in support of a cause that is critical for anyone aspiring to be a legal permanent resident! The answer is we all will have to bell the cat...and it will take more than a few attempts to do that.
IMHO, we should focus on what we can do rather than focusing on what some people could have done or what some one did to dampen the last attempt.
People will always find time for what is important to them; all we can do is try to make it more convenient and keep giving then enough opportunities.
We should have some sales/marketing people on this forum; they could have told us about how long it takes to convert a prospect to a customer.
Have faith my friend...
How about taking this to the next step and hire paid fulltime staff who can
1) call people and request donations
2) organize meetings
3) stimulate the local chapters
4) promote IV
..... and the list can go on.....and do all the things necessary to convert all propects to customers.
How about having full time offices in DC? This office will run on donations.
Finally, how about instead of anonymous members make this a place where everyone has to provide their personal details etc.
Anyways, I am just ranting.

Work is on to determine how to include members who couldn't participate personally, yet conveyed support and/or willingness to participate in our future activities - during the call, and/or through E-mails. We want to include everyone interested in our future activities. We also appreciate any other form of real tangible support coming from non-attendees agreeing to our cause and chapter activities. This will be crucial as we get into future activities, SOON!

To be frank there was momemtum and energy missing in DC and other states before the rally! I think there are many ignorant, many not willing and many not up to giving a day!
Have we tried to educate them about their situation today ..
IF many of us have been able to file I485 in JULY then its 'coz of IV and ONLY IV!!
If we stress on IV's acheivements .. eg. flower campaign & San jose Rally and outcome of these..Reversal of Visa Bulletin then I think people will try to understand..
Tell you what people with PD in the last 2 yrs have not shown up in big numbers! Only with PD as late as 2001,02,03,04,05 have been able to evaluate the seriuosness of the whole GC thing & able to visualise the waiting frustrations!! Lets bring in more of the recent yrs PD people so that they know HOW LUCKY they are Just 'coz of IV!!
I think most of PD's with 05, 06, 07 got a chance to apply I-485 and may be they thought tht they got their GC by applying I-485. They are happy for tht and didnt really understand the seriousness of the situation. This is just my thought. [No offense on all ppl who attended the rally with PD 05, 06, 07]

Any updates ?
I contacted the lawyers a few times to see what they were doing and they said they were working on it. But to be honest, I got tired of doing this on my own, and the lack of updates from the lawyers makes me doubt that anything will be done.
In fact, the current economic situation casts doubt on my employment, so I am not sure how long I will be in the US. Hopefully I can ride this out, but obviously I have other things on my mind. I need at least one more year working in the US to be eligible for social security. So I am keeping my fingers crossed.
